Description
Centre bearing assembly for the IMC VC7 and VC14
If the bearings on your VC7 or VC14 peeler are worn this is the best and easiest way to cure that.
Is this centre bearing assembly easy to fit?
It can be fit quite easily if you are comfortable on basic mechanics. Remove the barrel and plate from the machine. Isolate from the electric supply. Turn the machine upside down. Remove the base. This will allow access to the workings of the machine. Remove the belt. You then need to remove the large pulley. This is done by knocking the lower drive pin out of the pulley. This is on the side of the pulley. Once this is out you should be able to remove the pulley. When the pulley is removed this will allow access to the fixing screws. Undo these and this will let the the existing assembly come out.
Clean around the area and put the new assembly in place. Tighten up the fixing points. The pulley is ready to go back on. Before putting the pulley on be aware that the hole in the shaft is drilled on an angle. Make sure that the holes on the pulley and shaft are correctly aligned. You will find the hole on one side of the pulley is higher than the other. This must be the same on the shaft. If you line them up the wrong way it will therefore not allow the drive pin to pass all the way through. Once the pulley is fitted correctly. Refit the belt and adjust the tension. Replace the base and rebuild the machine.
Do I need to buy anything else at the same time as the assembly?
No, it comes as a complete unit. I would check the belt at this time to see the quality of that.
