Is this bucket only for chips?
No, it can be used for many things. Many fish shop owners use it with their whole potatoes as well.
Are there different options for the baskets?
Drywite also supply a plastic coated chip bucket with a stainless steel rim around the bottom to help against damage to the base of the bucket. There is also a completely stainless steel basket https://hopkins.biz/product/chip-draining-basket/
The plastic coating has started to come off, is there anything I can do?
Unfortunately not. Remove any bits of the coating that may be really loose so as not to contaminate anything. You may need to consider buying a new basket at this stage. Consider buying one of the stainless steel ones to prevent this happening in the future.
Are there any other items similar available to help with my production of fresh cut chips?
Yes, there are several items like this that will help with your chip production. e.g there are 25 gallon tubs that can be used with your peeler to catch the peeled potatoes. These can hold 55kg of chips. Drywite also supply larger square tank for the busier shop. these can hold up to 132 kg of chips. There also is a stainless steel version of the chip basket should that be your preference.
