Hopkins relocates to new West Yorkshire premises

Catering equipment fabricator Hopkins Catering has relocated to new premises in West Yorkshire.

Located on Grangefield Industrial Estate in Pudsey, RGM Leeds, trading as Hopkins, is open for business at the new commercial property.

The Pudsey-based firm had traded for 62 years as a distributor and fabricator, Hopkins Catering Equipment, until it lapsed into administration towards the end of 2018.

However, a month later, in December 2018 it was purchased by RGM Leeds Ltd, and transformed into solely a manufacturer, producing fish and chip shop equipment.

Hopkins has become a trading brand of RGM Leeds Ltd, under the new owner and CEO Ferhat Akkaya, who was a longstanding customer of Hopkins and is a director of a small chain of fish and chip shops in Cheshunt and Potters Bar, in Hertfordshire.

He has now given the business a new lease of life following the investment of the new premises.

The new director benefits from over 20 years’ experience in the fish and chip industry, giving him much knowledge to draw from. He is supported by Paul Barrett, operations director, who previously worked for Hopkins for over 38 years.

RGM has re-employed around half of the company’s former staff, and has been in full flow, producing, manufacturing and servicing ranges for customers up and down the country.

Akkaya said: “Having revealed the new premises, we have no doubt that the future will be bright for Hopkins. Expect continuous product development including a built in triple filtration system and a new website coming soon, all of which will be complemented by customer literature.”
